There are ten key tenets of the Knowledge Aware approach that convey the constituent principles and philosophy that enable Knowledge Aware. The first of the ten tenets of Knowledge Aware is Technical know-how is broadly elicited across the enterprise.

Here’s how the Knowledge Aware approach is different from other traditional knowledge management approaches on how it’s implemented across an organization.

    The Knowledge Aware Approach
The elicitation process of Knowledge Aware utilizes a bottom-up approach and is decentralized, self-starting and self-organizing. This means that Knowledge Aware can be organically implemented within an organization without needing upper management to force it upon employees. Organizations start small with a focused group and overtime and quickly grows across teams and locations.

    Traditional Knowledge Management Approaches
In contrast, traditional, monolithic approaches that demand uniformity to a single process and a structure that is difficult to change do not work. This requires a lot of top-down management pushing.

More information on the Knowledge Aware approach can be found on the IKAA website.
